Working on a new Men-scape.
In the project "Men-scapes", I will use literally- and emotionally-man touched and transformed land. I already made a few items which were still quite innocent by their appearances. This is the other part of the 'Men-scapes'. This one will be an area of highly emotional history.

Men-scape
I like use old furniture to make my men-scape project. It will become a kind of 'viewing boxes' in which I create different kind of men-made landscapes. This old tea-cabinet will carry an old dutch 'landscape' inside, as an old cherished memory and on top I will create the same piece of land, transformed by modern time.

Working on the ‘Men-Scapes’
The first 'Men-Scape' I made was very abstract. I made it to hang on a wall. But I will need to look at it several times before I will finish it definitively. The other 'Men-Scape' is made around an old Dutch table leg. I made a kind of polder land with a church, a little house and a windmill on it. I think I prefer this kind of 'Men-Scape'. Let’s wait and see where things will end!

Red Dress in exhibition de Vishal, Haarlem
August 10 - August 28
In this exhibition Willemijn Faber has chosen artists of who she thought the work has a resemblance one way or another. I 'm participating in this show together with Tije Domburg, a Haarlem based artist. We visited each other’s studios and talked about- and compared our work to find out if there actually is a resemblance. We both work with DNA and identity as a source of inspiration. We came to the conclusion that we both 'knit' our inspiration into an artwork, but both in a quite different way. The difference is the underlying thought, Tije Domburg examines and processes the human genome by literally unravel and re-assembling it in new structures and rhythms. His work is rhythmic and graphic. Chrystl Rijkeboer explores quite literally mankind in all it’s facets. She uses 'hair' as 'DNA source' to investigate it's origin and family ties. Her work is figurative and organic.
