Red Dress in exhibition de Vishal, Haarlem
Aug 11, 2011

August 10 - August 28
In this exhibition Willemijn Faber has chosen artists of who she thought the work has a resemblance one way or another. I 'm participating in this show together with Tije Domburg, a Haarlem based artist. We visited each other’s studios and talked about- and compared our work to find out if there actually is a resemblance. We both work with DNA and identity as a source of inspiration. We came to the conclusion that we both 'knit' our inspiration into an artwork, but both in a quite different way. The difference is the underlying thought, Tije Domburg examines and processes the human genome by literally unravel and re-assembling it in new structures and rhythms. His work is rhythmic and graphic. Chrystl Rijkeboer explores quite literally mankind in all it’s facets. She uses 'hair' as 'DNA source' to investigate it's origin and family ties. Her work is figurative and organic.
